Seeing: An eye and a box
Exhibition + Talk
Exhibition + Talk
The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) and the artistic collective NAKED SPACE present SEEING: An Eye and a Box, a free, accessible, and experimental exhibition that merges immersive art with scientific outreach to explore science through a multisensory experience.
The exhibition has been designed to present ECaBox, a project coordinated by Pia Cosma at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG), which aims to accelerate clinical eye research through an innovative idea: the creation of a device that revives donor eyes and keeps them alive outside the human body.
This immersive experience includes inflatable installations, sound elements, and holograms. Visitors are invited to move through a carefully designed journey that encourages them to reconsider what it means to “see” and to experience, in a sensory way, how we perceive the world through light and darkness. The exhibition also prompts reflection on the limits of vision, the importance of conscious observation, and the crucial role of basic research in the development of therapies to treat visual impairments.
Dialogue facilitated by:
Eimear Byrne, researcher at the CRG and project lead of ECaBox
Paula Ferrés, designer
Diego Gutiérrez, industrial design engineer specialized in additive manufacturing
Moderated by:
Omar Jamshed, Press Officer at the CRG
DATE: Thursday, June 5, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm
VENUE: Centre Cívic Convent de Sant Agustí (36 Comerç St., Barcelona). Calidoscopi Room
LANGUAGES: Catalan and Spanish
ADMISSION: Free, with prior registration
